Visionary builders in the home, office and industrial building industry were recognized in front of a sold-out crowd of 800 business, community and government delegates during UDI’s bi-annual awards gala at the Hyatt Regency last night.

Visionary builders in the home, office and industrial building industry were recognized in front of a sold-out crowd of 800 business, community and government delegates during UDI’s bi-annual awards gala at the Hyatt Regency last night.

A memorable highlight from the evening featured the newest UDI Hall of Fame inductee, Concert Properties co-founder and Order of BC recipient David Podmore, being honored for his 40 years of community building. David has shaped one of Canada’s most successful and well-respected real estate businesses. David is also a tireless philanthropist who has raised millions for charitable organizations, including the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Master of Ceremonies, Brian Jackson, former City of Vancouver Chief Planner, hosted the awards gala, founded in 1984. Builders were recognized in diverse categories such as design, sustainability, heritage and social housing as well as community amenities built or funded by UDI members, including seawalls, libraries, daycares, parks and community centres.

“This evening is all about recognizing extraordinary innovators and their towering achievements in building design, community amenities, social housing and so much more,” says UDI President & CEO Anne McMullin. “Congratulations to all the winners who can take great pride in this peer recognition for building BC communities for everyone to live, work and play.”
