An Update on the Portwood Development in Port Moody

Edgar Development is incredibly proud of the master-planned community that we designed and created at Portwood in Port Moody. Our phase two homes at Umbra are under construction and will see new homebuyers moving in this fall, with our phase one residents at the Creek moving in in December.
Port Moody is a community that Edgar has long valued, and our company enjoys strong, productive relationships with the City, its staff and Council. The Portwood master plan represents an important vision for the future of the area, and Edgar is proud to have played a leading role in bringing that vision forward.
Edgar has successfully developed the first two phases of Portwood, which together consist of more than 550 homes, designed and built to Edgar’s standards for quality, design and livability. These two phases represent an important first step in realizing the larger vision for Portwood.
Due to exceptionally challenging market conditions, combined with a challenging partnership, Edgar will not be developing the remaining phases of Portwood. Instead, the remaining lands will be advanced by other capable development partners.
While Edgar will not be responsible for the future phases, we look forward to seeing the community evolve. The master plan Edgar helped establish provides a strong foundation for the remaining phases, and we look forward to seeing our original vision become a reality over time.
The current market environment has been among the most challenging the Lower Mainland development industry has experienced in decades. Despite these conditions, Edgar remains focused on delivering high-quality communities and advancing its development portfolio across Western Canada.
Today, the company continues to actively manage and develop industrial and residential projects in Alberta, while progressing a number of projects in the Lower Mainland through various stages of development and pre-development.
Edgar is proud of its contribution to Portwood and to Port Moody, and we look forward to building more homes both in the community, and across Western Canada, long into the future.
