EDGAR Development and Upfield Capital: Inside Our New Gastown Home

A new home in Gastown is giving EDGAR Development an opportunity to breathe new life into a century old heritage building, with new businesses including Noe café, set to open in the new year and a spa. The building also provides a new home for the head offices of EDGAR, Upfield Capital and Bridgemans.
BC Business magazine came to take a video tour of the new building with our CEO, Peter Edgar. He takes viewers inside the company’s new shared headquarters and talks about the thinking behind the move.
The building was largely vacant when EDGAR and Upfield acquired it. After a year spent transforming the property into a beautifully reimagined space, the companies have created a productive, income-generating asset, while also making it home to their own teams.
The result is a bright, flexible workplace designed for collaboration, meetings and entertaining, with a mix of open work areas, boardrooms and gathering spaces.
For EDGAR, the project also reflects a broader approach to real estate: looking beyond the immediate market conditions to identify opportunities where thoughtful investment, active management and a long-term perspective can create value.
The decision to locate in Gastown was intentional. The neighbourhood has experienced significant change in recent years, while continuing to attract new businesses, restaurants and investment. For EDGAR, establishing its headquarters in the area is a way to be part of that evolution.
“It’s a thriving part of Vancouver that we’re really happy to be a part of,” Peter says in the video.
